To whom it may concern,
My name is Starla Leete, and I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner specializing in Obstetrics and Women's Healthcare as a Certified Nurse Midwife at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Rock Springs is a small community in Southwest Wyoming. Our clinic is the only specialty provider of women's healthcare and obstetrics in Sweetwater County. All women's health and prenatal care, as well as deliveries are performed within the clinic/hospital setting. Along with myself, there are three OB/GYN physicians and support team providing care to our community's women. We have an affiliation with the University of Utah and work in close conjunction with their Maternal Fetal Medicine group.
Today I am reaching out and asking for your support in helping my efforts to increase the well being of the women I serve and their families, especially the infants and yet unborn.
My goal is to provide a 'goodie bag' or 'swag bag' of products and materials for women who maintain optimal care by keeping their scheduled appointments and following through with prescribed health recommendations, treatments and procedures. As an incentive, I would like to provide interesting and desirable items which we can use to promote the services of the clinic/hospital and enhance attendance and awareness to the importance of their healthcare.
By keeping these women engaged, I hope to decrease the likelihood of maternal and newborn morbidity/mortality in our community. I also want to see improvements in our women's health by promoting adequate preventative care including annual examinations, pap tests and mammograms.
Outreach such as healthfairs, public appearance venues and presenting to the community in general has been impossible due to restrictions related to the recent COVID pandemic. The overall mental health of our community has suffered. This concerns me greatly as it goes without saying, women's physical health is significantly dependent on their mental health.
I am saddened each time a patient neglects attending either her prenatal visits or an annual preventative care visit. Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is committed to serving our community and especially those most in need of the county healthcare system. Unfortunately, those who are most at risk often neglect treatment or take the importance of their visits casually.
The following is an informal and cursory idea of what the gift bags will include:
Promotional items from Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County
Dental care products

I hope to have the items available during the first quarter of 2021 and be able to distribute specific health related bags each month throughout the year to bring awareness to a host of health related topics affecting our local community.
Promotional advertising placement via www.307Midwife.com will be available if you so choose. In addition, the tracking of products and materials donated will be conducted to insure the inventory goes to the proper recipients and is accounted for.
On behalf of my staff and I, we would like to thank you for considering my proposal and would appreciate your feedback should you have experience in this type of endeavor.
To quote Healthline,
“One of the biggest tools we have to fight health conditions is the power of human connection. That’s why awareness months, weeks, and days are so important: They rally us together to spread awareness and show support.
Educational and fundraising events are often held at these times to create a ripple effect of positivity and empowerment for not only those living with health conditions, but their loved ones, too.”
